While at home, there are multiple things that can be done to keep the family engaged and occupied. Some are games and some are activities that keep the mind and body engaged in fun and family time.
Age Game You will need Description Benefits
5 to 21 Name,Place, Animal, Thing Paper, Pen, Dictionary Make chits from A-Z and tell the kid to pic a chit then writes a name place animal and a thing. The kid who finishes first earns a point. Vocabulary Building
5 to 21 Tables/Parts of Speech/G.K. game Cardboard or hard paper body 12×12 inces, Ruler, Pen, dice, paper 3×2 inches (60 numbers or more). Make a rectangular board and draw at least 50-60 squares on it. In each square write Tables/Parts of Speech/G.K. questions and give 2-4 options (depending on child’s age), throw a dice and move that many spaces and attempt the question. If it’s right then move 2 paces ahead and if wrong move back 3 spaces. The winner is who reaches the end of the game first. To make it more interesting, on some squares write double points, miss the chance, go to start, take 2 chances, etc. To make it reusable use sticky notes instead of writing the questions. E.g. the questions could be name 5 countries/cities starting with R, name capital of a country, name common ornaments worn by a man/woman, name 5 laptop keys except nos. and letters, etc. Learning method for children to remember and understand concepts
5 to 21 Memory Game Different objects in the house that are not related (20 nos), Cloth and tray, pen or pencil and paper Place 15-20 items on the table and give the child 45sec-1min time to observe the objects then turn around and say/write them. Simultaneously another person will remove the items said by the first person from the table, to avoid confusion. Memory Retention
5 to 21 Addition and Subtraction Housie Housie kit, Knowledge of mathematics Print regular housie tickets or make them then pick a random no. and instead of saying the no. itself you make it by adding 2 nos. or subtracting 2 nos. (could be done with multiplication/ division/ combination of all according to the age) Mathematics
5 to 21 Sticky wall Two walls or furniture in the house. This game must be played in the passage or any place covered with 2 opposite walls or furniture enough to accomodate the players. A person will look behind and clap for as long as he wants and as soon as he turns around the others playing must stick to the wall. The person who sticks last to the wall loses. Awareness and Observation Skills
5 to 21 Paper cup task Paper Cups (10 – 15), Pen, pom-pom, marble, chalk, ping pong ball Use this game to distribute tasks in the house. Take the cups and Underneath every cup write a task
Arrange the paper cups to make any shape and then take the small object like pom-pom, marble, a piece of chalk, etc to throw in any cup.
Flip the cup, read the task and fulfil it.
The tasks for the day could be like no watching gadget, any exercise, eat only healthy, no chocolates, read 5 pages, help in daily chores, drink 10 glasses of water in the whole day, etc.
Children and the parents both should think and write tasks.Creativity, Family involvement, teaching Manners, Helping Hand

5 to 90 ATLAS NA This game is like antakshari but with words of city, district, state, country and places.
The players sit together and each one says A T L A S and the person who gets letter S will say a country/ city/ state/ district/ area of the world and the 2nd player says the name starting with the last letter of the previous word.
E.g. Sydney, Yemen, Nagpur, Rourkela, Asia, etc. It could also be played with names of fruits, flowers, animals, musical instruments, sports, languages, birds, etc. (The adult says the spelling for the child to learn)General Knowledge, Spellings
5 to 90 Pillar of coins Coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, bowl, table Fill a big bowl with coins of 1, 2, 5 and 10 rupees. One player takes a handful of coins (for kids 2 handful of coins) and has to make a stack of respective coins in 1-2 mins. If the stack falls then the player is disqualified. Focus on task and time management
5 to 90 Shot the paper balls Cello Tape (2), Chairs(2 nos), paper 4×4 inches Stick the cello tapes between 2 chairs such that the sticky side faces upwards and then scrunch up small paper balls and try to shoot them to the cello tape. Each player can hold 20 balls at a time in the hand and gets 5 chances and then count the total balls stuck. Then the next player takes the turn. The player with maximum balls stuck on the tape wins. Hand and Eye Coordination
5 to 90 Odd or Even Marbles, erasers, big bowl, any other small objects, water take some marbles/ pieces of chalk/erasers or any small objects and place them in a bowl. Then player 1 will grab as many pieces of objects from the bowl as they want and player 2 will guess if it odd or even. The player gets one point for guessing right. Variation could be more than 5, more than, 10, between 4-6, etc. Awareness and Observation Skills
5 to 90 World of Words Paper, pen or pencil one player will give a big word and the other player will write as many words possible from the given word in 3-4min. E.g. Elephant – Ant, Hat, Pant, Help, Plant, Lean, Hen, Plane, Pen, etc (according to the age give 2/3/4/5 letter words to be made). No plurals or People names are allowed. Concentration and Time Management skills
5 to 90 Dumb Charades Pen and Paper Think of a movie name and give clues like first letter of actor’s name, actress’ name, director’s name, hum the tune of a song of that movie, first letter of the movie, etc. and the player who guesses the movie name gets a chance to do the above and the game continues. Non-Verbal Communication
5 to 90 Word Associate Pen and Paper Player 1 says a word and the next person has to say 5 words related to the 1st word within 10-30 secs (give 30 secs to kids). To make it interesting player 1 will say a word, next person will say a word related to it, then say a word related to 2nd word, and so on. E.g. Tree, Bark, Dog, Faithful, Adjective, English, Language, Chinese, etc. Time Management, Spontaneous answering
5 to 90 Memory game with Flash cards Paper 5×3 inches (20 or more),pen take few papers and make flash cards out of it. Then take 2 cards write a question on one and the answer on the other. Make many like these. Now shuffle them up and face them downwards. Open any 2 random cards and check if they match. If not then flip them again and let the other player continue. Variation 2 flash cards could contain the same shape or no. or letter or opposites, etc. Memory Retention
5 to 90 Spaghetti game sketch pens/ pencils/ wooden skewers/ Mikado sticks, eraser or small block Put sketch pens/ pencils/ wooden skewers/ Mikado sticks one above the other in a random way and put a flat eraser/ wooden puzzle piece on the sticks. Every player removes 1 stick at a time (if other sticks move its ok) taking care that the object should not touch the ground. The game ends if the object touches the ground and the player with most sticks wins. Logical reasoning

5 to 90 Throw beads Beads, Thread, Firstly, arrange 8-10 random objects like phone, wallet, scissor, cup, etc. in a circle. Player 1 will hold beads in the hand and on the count of 3 will throw the beads in the middle of the circle (the distance should be half foot from the floor, also each player will have 10 – 15 beads). If the bead touches any object then that bead is removed and next player continues playing with his/her beads. If the bead goes out of the circle without touching the object it has to be used.
